Replace a missing tooth with dental implants

Implants are the solution for those who have lost one, several, or perhaps all of their teeth. Instead of attaching bridges to healthy teeth or using unsecured dentures, permanent artificial teeth can be used.

An implant treatment only requires local anesthesia. A dental implant is attached with a screw at the desired location in the jaw. During a healing period, the implant must fuse with the jawbone. The dental restoration (denture/crown/bridge) can then be permanently attached to the implant using screws.

Today, dental implants are a standard method in dental healthcare, offering significant advantages. Dental implants feel natural, like real teeth, and also look natural. Furthermore, neither saliva nor speech is affected.

In 1965, the first patient received a titanium dental implant. When this patient passed away in 2006, it was noted that the implant had functioned well for more than 40 years. The implant surgery was performed by Dr. Brånemark, who also discovered the biocompatible property of titanium, known as osseointegration. In the following years, there was an extensive and rapid development of implants as a treatment method in dental healthcare. Today, there are several brands of implants available.

Dental implants

The price of dental implants can vary depending on where in the mouth the implant is to be placed and how simple or complex the treatment is judged to be. The price may also vary if, for example, a sinus lift is required or if bone grafting is needed to make an implant possible.

The price also varies for those entitled to dental care support from the Swedish Social Insurance Agency (Försäkringskassan), as the treatment becomes cheaper when the agency covers part of the cost.

If more than one implant is placed during the same session, the total price per implant also becomes lower. The price for a dental implant can vary between 18,000–25,000 SEK before deductions from the Social Insurance Agency. Welcome for an examination or consultation.

Dental implants are the treatment with the highest percentage of success globally, with figures close to 98%. The treatment is very safe and risks are minimal when treatment protocols are followed strictly.
Potential risks include swelling, bleeding, loss of sensation (1% risk), and failed osseointegration (1–2% risk). At TandCity, we have approximately 98% successful cases of implant treatments and therefore consider the treatment to be very safe. The prognosis varies from case to case. Your dentist will inform you of this during your first visit.
