We are confident in the quality of our work and the fairness of our dental care pricing; therefore, we maintain full transparency regarding the treatment prices for our affordable dentists and dental hygienists. We are, of course, affiliated with the Swedish Social Insurance Agency (Försäkringskassan), which means you can utilize the general dental care allowance (ATB) and have access to high-cost protection in the same manner as with other affordable dentists.

Our dentists in Malmö always operate with the patient in focus, treating every individual as unique. Together, we determine the best solution for you, from both a clinical and financial perspective. Factors affecting the treatment cost for our dentists and dental hygienists include your age as well as the examinations and treatments required. At our clinic, you will be informed of the treatment cost before it commences.

State Dental Care Support

You are entitled to free dental care up to and including the year you turn 19. Thereafter, you receive financial assistance through the state dental care support system, which consists of three parts:

  • General dental care allowance
  • Special dental care allowance
  • High-cost protection

The first part is the general dental care allowance (ATB), where the amount of the allowance depends on your age. The general dental care allowance belongs to the patient but is paid to the affordable dentist or dental hygienist. The entire allowance must be used at one time, and it is the patient who decides if and when it should be used to pay for part of the treatment cost.

On July 1st each year, a new dental care allowance is issued, and it is possible to save the allowance from one year and use it together with the new allowance the following year, either simultaneously or on different occasions. It is not possible to save more than two allowances; thereafter, one of the earlier allowances expires and is replaced by a new one.

  • From the year you turn 20 up to and including the year you turn 29, the allowance is 600 SEK/year.
  • From the year you turn 30 up to and including the year you turn 64, the allowance is 300 SEK/year.
  • From the year you turn 65, the allowance is 600 SEK/year.

There is also a special dental care support (STB) amounting to 600 SEK per half-year. This is intended for individuals with illnesses or disabilities that negatively affect the teeth and oral cavity, and usually requires a medical certificate.

The third component of the state dental care subsidy is called high-cost protection, which means that patients receive financial assistance when paying for major treatments.

This way, the patient does not have to bear the entire cost themselves. The Swedish Social Insurance Agency (Försäkringskassan) pays the compensation for the remaining part of the treatment cost directly to the dentist or dental hygienist. This protection becomes active when the total cost of a dental visit (calculated based on the reference price) exceeds 3,000 SEK within a 12-month period. You will then receive a deduction, the size of which depends on the total cost.

  • For dental costs with a reference price up to 3,000 SEK, you receive no compensation and pay the full dental price yourself.
  • For dental costs with a reference price between 3,000 and 15,000 SEK, you receive 50% compensation.
  • For dental costs with a reference price exceeding 15,000 SEK, you receive 85% compensation.
  • Aesthetic dental care, such as teeth whitening, is not included in the state dental care support and is not reimbursed.

What is the cost of repairing a damaged tooth?

One of the most common dental conditions we encounter is damaged teeth. Depending on the severity of the damage, one or more treatments may be required. For example, if a tooth is so damaged that it cannot be repaired, it may need to be extracted. Therefore, the answer to the question of what it costs to fix a tooth is unfortunately not straightforward, as it depends entirely on the extent of the damage.

TandCity Malmö Warranty

Tooth-supported prosthetics:

Removable tooth-supported prosthetics: 1 year from the date the construction was delivered.

Fixed tooth-supported prosthetics: 3 years from the date the construction was delivered.

The warranty applies to the prosthetic construction and not to biological complications that may arise during or after treatment.

Implants:

We use original components for our implant treatments to the greatest extent possible, and these are provided with a lifetime warranty from the manufacturer.

Not all implants heal as intended. This can be due to a wide range of factors. If an implant should unexpectedly be lost in connection with installation or healing, we will perform a new attempt free of charge.

Removable implant-supported prosthetics: 1 year from the date the construction was delivered.

Fixed implant-supported prosthetics: 3 years from the date the construction was delivered.

Reparative measures:

Aesthetic fillings: 1 year from the date the treatment was performed.

Root canals – individual biological factors play a significant role here, and therefore no warranty is provided for these in the event of complications.

Fillings – individual biological and physiological factors play a significant role here, and therefore no warranty is provided for these in the event of complications.

Operative procedures:

Extractions, complicated extractions, and surgical extractions.

These procedures include follow-up and aftercare, including suture removal, treatment of post-operative discomfort including dry socket up to 14 days after the treatment, and follow-up X-rays if necessary.

General:

All prosthetic work is performed as far as possible in our in-house laboratory, which maintains the same warranty periods as stated above.

For the warranty to be valid, the treatment must be what the treating dentist proposed and agreed upon in consultation with you as the patient.

The treatment must be completed and paid for in full.

The warranty is intended for technical complications. Dissatisfaction alone is not sufficient grounds for a warranty claim. Work is approved by the patient before permanent cementation or delivery.

Complications resulting from caries, poor oral health/hygiene, smoking, general health conditions, biology, and other factors beyond the practitioner’s control are not covered by the warranty.

In cases where extended treatment is required or requested, you will pay the difference yourself.

For all fixed prosthetics and aesthetic fillings, a bite splint must be produced and used by the patient for the warranty to be valid, if deemed necessary by your treating dentist.

The warranty does not apply in the event of accidents – this is covered by your private insurance.

A repair or remake of a completed construction does not extend the warranty period. The warranty applies from the original delivery date.

It is difficult to provide a general warranty on dental care as the durability and survival of the work largely depend on the patient’s individual biological and physiological factors. Your teeth are used around the clock every day and are subjected to heavy wear. Teeth are strongest when they are intact, without damage or reparative work. Unfortunately, the fact is that no dental work lasts forever, but our goal is always to perform individually adapted, long-term work. Through good self-care, the use of a bite splint, and regular check-ups with a dentist or dental hygienist, you as a patient can significantly improve the chances that your treatments will last as long as possible. Naturally, we want you as a patient to feel satisfied with the work you have received and the time and cost you have invested in yourself and your treatment. If you experience discomfort after a treatment, please contact us as soon as possible. We guarantee that we will do everything we can to help you. Our primary goal is for you to feel well-cared for and satisfied with your treatment. In the first instance, you will meet your treating dentist, but it may also be appropriate for treatment to be taken over by another competent practitioner or the clinical manager. If we unexpectedly cannot help you in the best way ourselves, we collaborate with a number of carefully selected specialists in each field. We will then be happy to assist you with a referral to the correct authority, but once there, their treatments and prices apply.
